Built for the UK's smallest tax filers
VATLY is a small UK company building VAT compliance software for self-employed freelancers and businesses near the registration threshold. The product is opinionated about Making Tax Digital workflows, and every rate and threshold it displays is cited back to the HMRC page it came from with a date a human last reviewed it.
Why VATLY
Most freelancers do not struggle with the arithmetic of VAT. They struggle with timing, definitions, missing records, and software that assumes they already know which scheme and deadline apply. We keep the workflow narrow on purpose: import the figures, review the assumptions, prepare a record you can defend.
Founder
Founder bio + public profile links go here when VATLY is incorporated and the company name is registered. Schema markup is intentionally omitted until that information is real and verifiable.
How we work
- Every rate in the product links to its HMRC source and the date a human last reviewed it. The editorial workflow is documented and followed.
- Calculator math lives in a single source of truth and is exercised by golden tests against hand-verified HMRC examples.
- Records of VAT calculations associated with a submitted return are retained for six years (HMRC requirement). Everything else is deletable on request.
